Location: Tulalip, WA

Salary: $126,500-170,000

The Director of Retail Banking provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the organization’s retail branch network. This role is responsible for driving growth, service excellence, employee development, and operational performance across multiple branches. The Director ensures the delivery of high-quality banking services, strong community engagement, regulatory compliance, and achievement of sales and profitability goals. This position serves as a key partner in shaping the long-term retail strategy for the organization.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the retail banking strategy to enhance market share, deposit growth, loan portfolio expansion, and customer experience.
  • Analyze local market dynamics in all regions; identify opportunities for network expansion and product penetration.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to set annual goals, budgets, and performance metrics for the retail network.
  • Lead change management initiatives supporting technology enhancements, process improvements, and new retail programs.
  • Provide leadership and direction to branch managers across multiple locations; ensure consistent execution of sales, service, and operational standards.
  • Monitor branch performance, including financial results, service delivery, audit compliance, and employee engagement.
  • Conduct regular branch visits across the region to assess performance, coach leaders, and support operational excellence.
  • Ensure all retail operations meet regulatory, audit, and risk-management requirements.
  • Oversee implementation of policies, procedures, and internal controls to minimize operational and compliance risk.
  • Partner with Compliance, Risk, and Audit teams to maintain a strong internal control environment across the retail network.
  • Develop, and retain high-performing branch managers and retail staff.
  • Build leadership, coaching, and succession plans within the retail organization.
  • Create an inclusive, collaborative culture aligned with organizational values.
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Management, or related field (or equivalent experience). Master’s degree (MBA or related discipline) preferred.
  • 8–10+ years of progressive retail banking experience, including multi-branch or regional leadership.
  • Background in digital transformation initiatives within a retail banking environment.
  • Strong knowledge of banking regulations, deposit/loan products, and branch operations.
  • Demonstrated success in sales leadership, business development, and team management.
  • Proven ability to interpret financial statements, analyze performance trends, and drive results.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
